Katie Ledecky Couldn’t Win a Free Waffle Maker on ‘Ellen’ Thanks to the NCAA

Things Katie Ledecky has:

  • Five gold medals.
  • Three world records in swimming.
  • Gills, probably.

Things Katie Ledecky doesn’t have:

  • A Waffle maker courtesy of Ellen Degeneres.

During Katie Ledecky’s appearance on Ellen this week, Degeneres pitted the decorated swimmer against American Ninja Warrior’s Grant McCartney in a game of “Foot Flickers,” and Ledecky proved to everyone that she could play for the women’s soccer team during the 2020 games and still leave with a few gold medals.

But, before the games started, Ellen told the contestants that they would be competing for a waffle maker. Katie, unfortunately, had to make it clear that she is a college athlete now, meaning the NCAA prevents her from accepting gifts not authorized by the organization.

Honestly, this is the perfect example of why college is completely useless.
