Usually after Thanksgiving, people begin to get ready for the next major holiday of the year: Christmas. That means Christmas trees start to go up, houses are decorated with bright lights, and various Christmas characters come to visit.

This iconic Christmas classic is about an 8-year-old boy (Macaulay Culkin) who is left home alone (hence the title) on Christmas, after his family mistakenly leaves him behind when taking a trip to Paris. He assumes his wish to have no family came true, but his excitement goes sour when two burglars put an end to his fun. Now he has to protect the house from these two con men, using some pretty ingenious and funny tactics to do so.
Elf is a funny Christmas classic, a tale of an elf named Buddy (Will Ferrell) who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a baby and was raised by Santa’s elves. Buddy has always felt that he doesn’t quite fit in with the other elves (maybe because he towers over them). So he goes to New York City, in his full elf gear to search for his birth father, who turns out to be a cynical businessman.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
This stop motion animated film puts a spooky twist o Christmas. When Halloween town’s pumpkin king, Jack Skellington, becomes bored with frightening people on Halloween, he sets his eyes on a different holiday: Christmas. In order to gain control of this jolly holiday he kidnaps Santa Claus and takes his place as the new scarier and bonier Santa Clause.
The Santa Clause
This is definitely a great family movie, because why wouldn’t the kids want to watch a film about a man who kills Santa Claus? Well, have no fear, Christmas still lives on since now Scott the alleged Santa Killer (Tim Allen) must now take on the role of the jolly guy in red. At first he thinks it’s all a dream, but as he starts to put on weight and grow a white beard, he realizes he’s the new Santa whether he likes it or not.
The Polar Express
This inspiring animated fantasy movie will awaken the inner child in you. The Polar Express is based on the children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg. The movie is about a doubting young boy who embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on board the Polar Express train. On his adventure he learns about friendship, the spirit of Christmas, and to always believe.
