9 Things You Can do Indoors When It’s Too Cold to go Outside

There's no need to leave your house ever.

I hate the outdoors even when its the perfect weather for outdoorsy activities. There’s something about physical activity in any form that pains me because I’m basically the laziest person I’ve ever met. Besides the beauty that is Thanksgiving, cold weather is my favorite part of the season. The cold temperatures demand for us to stay indoors and I will graciously follow those orders.

That being said, even I get bored of doing the same thing over and over again so I find myself thinking of things to do when staying indoors. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a solid list of activities that I happily repeat throughout the day but sometimes you just have to get a little more creative with your typical routine. Why stress about staying warm outdoors when you can have the time of your life in the privacy of your own home.

Movie marathon

Pick a genre you’ve never really gotten into and watch some of those films. I have never been a big fan of the sci-fi genre but last year I decided to take on Stranger Things and I fucking loved it. Challenge yourself to try something new, cuddle up with a blanket and open yourself up to new things.

Game night

Invite your friends over for a game night! Find all your old school board games and just have with your fans. Pair the games with an assortment of tasty treats and you’re set for hours. If you’re more of a mature type, pop out some playing cards and play your favorite Vegas-inspired games.

Slumber party

And after the rousing game of Blackjack and several cocktails later, your friends are not going to be ready to go home. Pull out another bottle and start talking shit with your pals; rest assured that the couch is calling their name. Staying up until all hours of the night laughing with your friends is some of the most fun you’ll ever have. For most of us, we haven’t had a sleepover since high school, so enjoy the innocent fun with your friends. Don’t forget to have treats in the fridge for breakfast in the morning. Did someone say mimosa?

Read a book

Stop being a dumb ass and crack open a book once in a while. Find some of your old favorites and look up books similar to them. Or if you didn’t have the pleasure to read them, find a list of old classics you should be reading! There’s so much beauty in literature that’s forgotten about because of television. Don’t skip out on the original form of entertainment, read a book.

Eat it all

And I mean it all. Eat anything you want! Just kidding, kinda. Take on some new dishes you haven’t tried. I’m sure you have some old cookbooks you haven’t thought about in years, open them up and try out some new recipes. If you haven’t perfected your signature dessert, take advantage and do it now. Of course, you wouldn’t be a proper chef if you didn’t taste all of these new dishes.

Drink it all

Simple as that. Just have a glass of wine or two. Or three. You’d be surprised how much activity can be accompanied by a cocktail. Cooking? Have some wine. Cleaning? Have some wine. Reading? Have some damn wine. Have it all.

Treat yourself

Pull out the at home face masks and pamper yourself. Most of us don’t have time during the hectic work week to proper exfoliate or paint our nails, so take advantage of the time now. Listen to podcast that you have been hearing about, may I suggest the podcast Dirty John, and just treat yourself.

Make a playlist

With all this eating and drinking, you’re going to have to hit the gym soon. Build your best playlist for exercise and life in general. Don’t be afraid to sprinkle in some of your favorite throwbacks!

Reorganize your life
Clean your life away and reorganize your entire place. The entire energy of a room can change dramatically just by making some small changes. I also believe that decluttering your place will help declutter your life.
