Alec Baldwin to Take Over for Late Robert Osborne as Host of TCM’s ‘The Essentials’

MATCH GAME - Airdate: June 26, 2016 - The iconic panel game show MATCH GAME, hosted by Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin, returns to primetime airing on SUNDAYS beginning June 26th (10-11pm, ET) on the ABC Television Network. Here’s the thing: Alec Baldwin knows how to host a TV show, as demonstrated by his work on SNL and the new Match Game, among other gigs. So naturally, Turner Classic Movies snatched him up as the new emcee of The Essentials, following the passing of long-time host Robert Osborne.

Is this part of Baldwin’s plan to step away from his current gig as Impersonator-in-Chief? Either way, he is plenty qualified to present TCM’s series showcasing “must see” classic films, having previously co-hosted with Osborne multiple times.

The star of The Boss Baby will occasionally be joined by his own co-hosts, including David Letterman, Tina Fey, and William Friedkin (who has directed some essentials himself, such as The Exorcist and The French Connection).

The new season of The Essentials returns May 6 at 8 PM.
