In a world where everything revolves around your smartphone, it was only a matter of time before convenience took over your car, too. Chevy has announced that they will start making cars that come equipped with an air conditioner for your phone. Now, in a way this makes sense.
Your smartphone can overheat fairly quickly given the amount you actually spend playing around with it. So, Chevy figured the only rational thing to do would be to build something that allowed your phone to be comfortable too.
The cooling system is called Active Phone Cooling and will be available in some Chevy models come 2016. Apparently, the Impala, Malibu, Volt, and Cruze will all come with the feature. The new a/c unit will only work if the a/c in the actual car is on because it basically just pulls air from that unit and onto your phone.
Impala engineer Dan Lascu said:
“Innovation doesn’t mean reinventing the wheel. Sometimes simplicity offers the most elegant solution to a problem.”
Not bad, Chevy.
