Beauty Brand Asks Trump Supporters Not to Buy Their Products

via Illamasqua

The UK-based makeup brand Illamasqua made a strong statement against Trump and his supporters today, saying that it was “horrified by President Trump’s actions to date.” The company is probably anticipating a reaction from fans of Trump, who have tried to boycott Starbucks and the Broadway musical Hamilton in the past, “with limited results” as Cosmo points out. But Illamasqua doesn’t seem too worried about a potential boycott from Trump supporters, explaining that it “will never knowingly sell our products to people who support President Trump’s values.”

Founder Julian Kynaston asks that before anyone buy Illamasqua products, they take an “anti-fascism pledge” for “human fundamentalism values,” vowing to “never discriminate against race, color, nationality, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.”

While the company knows a customer ban can’t actually be enforced, it still sends a clear message. “We’re realistic. We know we can’t stop anyone buying our products. But we also know that no matter how hard some people work to make themselves beautiful on the outside, make-up can never hide the ugliness inside. So please, if you don’t agree with the above DON’T BUY US.”
