How To Avoid An Awkward Morning After If You Had A One Night Stand

Sometimes life gives people moments that leave them smiling from ear to ear. When you’re caught in the heat of a moment, thinking becomes limited. So, it can get pretty awkward when you have to wake up and face reality. One-night stands are notorious for having that awkward morning conversation. You wonder what to say, if you should stay the night, so on and so forth. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are some tips to avoid the awkward morning after.

Be Prepared

If you go out and happen to wear heels, bring flats with you. Buy ballet flats that can be rolled up so you can save space if you carry a small purse. You might also want to have a small toothbrush and mini toothpaste. Carry a scrunchie, comb or brush. You might also want to have makeup wipes. Why?  When you do the walk of shame (or pleasure), you can look less rumpled and feel more confident.

Initiate

Instead of staring at the person creepily or at the wall, smile. Then start a conversation. Make an effort to get to know them, if you want to. They might have some great things to say. Chances are they were thinking the same things as you, wondering what to say. It could turn into something more than just a one night stand if you let it. Or it can be a nice way to leave things off. Pick a safe topic, like TV shows or just say you enjoyed yourself last night. Keep it positive.

Leave

If it was a negative experience, or you suddenly became shy in the cold dawn of light, just leave. Get yourself an uber, grab your clothes and roll out. If they are sleeping, leave a note saying goodbye and that’s it. You don’t have to stay over if you don’t want to. You don’t even have to spend the night. Just make sure you have your exit plan. Always keep cash on you and a debit or credit card so you can get home safely. You also might ask a trustworthy friend to pick you up. If you need a friend to fake an emergency, text your friend who can lie well and have them call you so you can rush out the door. Some lies can save peoples prides.

Neutral Spot

You don’t have to go to their place if you want to. It can be weird for some people to go to random strangers home.  Have them come to yours, so you can kick them out and snuggle under your covers longer. If you don’t want them to know where you live,  get a hotel. You can split the purchase. Plus you can shower and not have to borrow soap. Depending on where you met, you could also find a secluded spot to enjoy yourselves, then you won’t even have an awkward “morning after”. Then you can have a spontaneous memory to keep and share with your friends.

Don’t do it

If you are one of those people who suffer from anxiety in social situations, don’t have a one night stand. If you are going to spend the night overanalyzing everything to the point where it isn’t pleasurable, do not do it. Get the person’s number if you can and see if they will agree to a date. You do not have t do a one-night stand. Everyone does not have to have the same experiences.Do not let friend or strangers tell you otherwise. Just take yourself home after a night of fu dancing, drinks or whatever you do and be proud you had fun, in your own way.
