Vice President Joe Biden has been outspoken against Trump throughout the announcement of his candidacy back in 2015, and shows no signs of stopping as the President-elect prepares to take office.
In an interview was PBS NewsHour, Biden responded to a question about President-elect Donald Trump’s tweets where he referred to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as ‘the head clown.’
“Grow up, Donald. Grow up. Time to be an adult,” Biden responded. “You’re president. You’ve got to do something. Show us what you have. You’re going to propose legislation. We’re going to get to debate it. Let the public decide. Let them vote in Congress. Let’s see what happens.”
Biden also addressed Trump’s recent skepticism of US intelligence agencies. “I think it’s dangerous. For a President not to have confidence in, not to be prepared to listen to the myriad of intelligence agencies from defense intelligence, to the CIA, et cetera, is absolutely mindless. It’s just mindless,” Biden said.
Biden’s words seem more motivating than deterring Trump, pleading for him to be prepared for the immense pressure and responsibility of the presidency.
Of course, Trump and his entourage aren’t ones to be silent or professional. New York Republican Rep. Chris Collins, part of Trump’s transition executive committee, was the chosen voice to respond in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
“That’s a pathetic response,” Collins said. “I think it’s beneath the Office of the Vice President. It shows just the angst of the loss of this election by (President Barack) Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Donald Trump is the adult in the room.”
If you have to claim to be the adult in the room, chances are, you’re not.
