Billionaire Richard Branson’s Private Island has Been Destroyed by Irma

While Richard Branson decided to wait out Hurricane Irma in his concrete wine cellar, Hurricane Irma wrecked his private Necker Island. His island neighbors Virgin Island Gorda and Puerto Rico. Branson has just emerged with detailed pictures of the damage.

On Twitter, Branson shared photos of the disaster. He was showing that this was just a small example of the destruction that occurred from Irma in the Caribbean.

He showed the destruction to show “the 1000s of people who lost their homes & livelihoods.” The Virgin website is currently accepting donations to help raise money for those who were affected by Irma.

Branson also took time out to concentrate on what he believes caused the hurricane; global warming. He stated “The whole world should be scrambling to get on top of the climate change issue before it is too late – for this generation, let alone the generations to come.”

Branson has also commented on urgent action for climate change before. When President Trump decided to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, Branson spoke out against the decision.

Branson wanted his followers to also keep in mind that the Virgin Island are potentially in more danger with Hurricane Jose approaching. Hopefully, the 11.4 million twitter followers that the billionaire has will not take his message lightly and will help with the restoration of the Caribbean.
