After previous reality TV star Donald Trump not only ran for president but won, it seems like everyone thinks they have what it takes. Thus, Caitlyn Jenner has announced that she is thinking about running for Senate in California.
Jenner shared the news of her potential run with John Catsimatidis, the radio host on AM 970. She stated, “I have considered it, I like the political side of it.” The “it” that she is referring to is LGBT rights.
“The political side of it has always been very intriguing to me. Over the next six months or so, I [have to] find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside. And we are in the process of determining that.”
So it looks like Jenner will run if she thinks that is where she can be most helpful in gaining more LGBT rights. She who is a Republican, and she shared that the main focus of her campaign would be to change the minds of traditional Republican values and push them towards more progressive views.
Jenner went on to say:
“The perception of the Republican party is that they’re all about rich white guys trying to make money. I would hope in the next generation that we can change the perception of the Republican party, and make it the party of equality.”
It looks like Jenner has a lot of work to do considering only 21 percent of polled LGBT Americans identify as Republican. Many people feel Jenner is “breathtakingly clueless” when it comes to LGBT rights in politics.
She was harshly criticized for her public support of Republican Ted Cruz, whose proposed LGBT reforms have been deemed regressive.
Jenner isn’t the first celebrity to consider running for office. Obviously President Trump is the only one so far who has actually gone through with it. But it seems also that Kid Rock is publicly announcing that he plans on running for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Along with Jenner and Kid Rock, we might be seeing Dwayne Johnson in the val Office as well. Although The Rock hasn’t publicly announced his plans to run, he has not denied them either.
It seems like Caitlyn Jenner’s plans for office are pretty ambitious considering she isn’t speaking to a majority of her family right now. I wonder if any of them will be voting for her.
