Chance the Rapper beams on the cover of GQ magazine’s February issue, sporting his very own pink 3 cap. Inside the magazine, the grammy-nominated rapper explains to GQ just how much he’s always enjoyed wearing a hat, since he was young.
In fact, he wore them so much through high school that they were often taken away or confiscated. He wouldn’t get them back until the end of the school year. “After they gave back a few caps to other kids, they would just give me the box because the rest were all my hats,” remembers Chance. “So I think, in one part, it’s a rebellion. There are a few things that I have because I’m a man-child. Like I don’t eat vegetables at all. Never. I hate eating vegetables. The only vegetables I eat are lettuce on a burger.”
The famous 3 hat is finally for sale and as for the number, Chance explains, “I’ve rationalized it to myself that it stands for the third mixtape, the Holy Trinity, and the three-pronged family of myself, my daughter, and my girl,” says Chance.
