Thursday night, at China’s official state dinner which hosted U.S. President Donald Trump, the Asian superpower decided on a more western menu.
The dinner took place Thursday evening, and was hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People. The event was attended by the country’s business leaders, such as Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun who gave us and inside look at what was on the menu on Weibo.
- Hors d’Oeuvres
- Coconut Flavored Chicken Soup
- Seafood Chowder
- Kung Pao Chicken
- Stewed Beef Steak in Tomato Sauce
- Braised Vegetables in Premium Broth
- Grouper Fillets in Hot Chili Oil
- Fruits & Ice Cream
- Red Wine Great Wall 2009, Hebei China
- White Wine Great Wall 2011, Hebei China
The menu consisted of very basic Chinese dishes, the type you would see on the menu at the Panda Express in a mall cafeteria.
And it was quite obvious that China was doing its best to please the U.S President, even adding stewed beef steak in tomato sauce. Its known that Trump likes his steaks well-done with ketchup, so this was probably the perfect dish for him.
Citing from a Chinese People’s Daily report, the South China Morning Post pointed out that the reason for chefs designing a menu such as this was to match the guests “tastes, age and state of health.”
Well earlier this week in Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe served up a well-done hamburger for the U.S President at a golf club. I guess at his next stops they might serve him up some hot dogs and fried Oreos for dessert.
