Ever since Chipotle’s E. coli scandal, they have been unable to control their rapidly declining stock and value. Now, after an extremely negative reaction to their queso, Chipotle is adding quinoa to their menu. It will be making its debut as a trial in New York City, and will then expand to other cities pending success.
Besides the business addition, Chipotle is quite high on the taste of the product: “The quinoa is made with red and gold quinoa tossed with a little citrus juice, cumin, and freshly chopped cilantro,” Chris Arnold, a Chipotle representative, told Business Insider. “We are recommending that added to a salad or in place of rice in another entree.”
I don’t know about you, but the Chipotle queso looks disgusting and has clearly not been a profitable edition for the company. That said, this is the first menu edition for Chipotle since former Taco Bell executive Brian Niccol took over role as CEO, and this is potentially the first step forward in a while for Chipotle. It is unlikely people will flock to Chipotle because of the new CEO’s experience at Taco Bell, but hopefully, for all us Chipotle addicts, due to success for the company.
