Colin Kaepernick is Appropriately Named GQ’s Citizen of the Year

via Twitter

GQ magazine has recently announced their Men and Woman of the Year 2017.

“Bad Hombre of the Year” went to Stephen Colbert, “Wonder Woman of the Year” is Gal Godot, and “Champion of the Year” is Kevin Durant. But the choice for “Citizen of the Year” went to Colin Kaepernick for his activism.

Kaepernick was photographed in Harlem “among the men, women, and children he is fighting for.”

Kaepernick has been in the news ever since his decision to kneel for the national anthem before football games. In protest of police brutality, Kaepernick wanted to show solidarity within the black community. The protest is supposed to have Americans realize the violence against the black community. There was a lot of support for Kaepernick:

Support to Kaepernick also came from NFL teams when Trump tweeted against the protests in an act that caused much controversy. Entire NFL teams began kneeling for the anthem in support of Kaepernick and the protest, while Trump tried to make their kneeling seem unpatriotic.
