How You Deal with Rejection Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Rejection is rough. Whether it’s in terms of dating, sex, or work-related, having someone tell you that you’re not good enough is a huge hit to the ego. While it’s actually positive overall, the feeling in the moment is just gut-wrenching. We all deal with rejection differently, and it’s not always healthy.

Eventually, though, most of us manage to move on. The methods and time vary greatly, but you will figure out how to move past the guy that didn’t want you or the job that never called you back. It’s tougher for some than others, especially when it comes to personality.

So how do you typically move forward? Here’s how your astrological sign likes to deal with rejection (and what you might want to try instead):

Aries (March 21st- April 19th)

Oof, Aries are tough when it comes to rejection. You will never admit that somebody didn’t want you. Rather, an Aries will concoct a flaw with the other person. You’ll tell yourself the spark had died out or it was never really worth the effort. If a job rejects your application, you’ll say the job was too low-paying or wasn’t challenging enough for you. Anything to take the focus off the fact that even just one person or job wasn’t interested. Remember: it’s okay to admit that something you wanted didn’t work out in your favor.

Taurus (April 20th- May 20th)

Mmm. You sensitive. You’re a little paranoid and might assume you’ve been rejected before it even happens. As a Taurus, you’re the type to spiral into worst-case scenario if your crush doesn’t respond for 3 minutes. Once a rejection is confirmed, though, you won’t badger the person. You’ll be at home, thinking about the defeat and eating snacks. You might trash-talk a bit to your closest friends, but you won’t make a big stink. Just be careful not to assume you’re being rejected before it even happens: you’ve missed out on a few opportunities that way.

Gemini (May 21st- June 21st)

You cannot handle rejection. You’re worse than Aries: you’ll actually turn the rejection into something that flatters you. For example, you might claim that someone was so in love with you that they just had to end it. Soon enough, you’ll be distracted by the next person, and this rejection will be forgotten. However, it’s kind of rude to just create scenarios: you might want to look into why your relationships come and go so quickly.

Cancer (June 22nd- July 22nd)

You don’t get rejected often, but this isn’t necessarily a good thing. Cancers are so afraid of rejection that they will actively avoid it, to the point of not putting themselves out there at all. When you are rejected, you’ll be practically inconsolable. Remember that taking risks is what makes life enjoyable and getting rejected doesn’t mean there’s a fundamental problem with you.

Leo (July 23rd- August 22nd)

Well, your ego is so large that you might not even notice the rejection. Not only do you vehemently deny it to everyone around you, you deny it to yourself as well. If you do actually get it through your giant head (metaphorically) that you’ve been rejected, you will constantly talk about what a huge mistake he or she made by losing you. Leos are the type to subtweet about how much it must suck to lose them. You might send a few crazy paragraphs about what a mistake the other person made, so avoid the booze while you’re still reeling. Remember that other people are great, too, and try to accept responsibility for your actions.

Virgo (August 23rd- September 22nd)

Honestly, shoutout to Virgos. You handle rejection by accepting the defeat, analyzing what yo did wrong, and moving forward. You are definitely too hard on yourself. Sometimes rejection has nothing to do with you at all, and you should keep that in mind. However, your refusal to lash out, blame the other person, or talk yourself up is humble and saves you from embarrassment. Just try to remember that rejection isn’t always personal!

Libra (September 23rd- October 23rd)

For you, it all depends on how the rejection happens. A polite rejection is something you can move past with ease, because you appreciate tact. A crush telling you, “It’s not about you, I am just not in a position to date at the moment after my grandmother died,” is something you find easy to swallow. You might even convince yourself it’s not a rejection (it is, sorry). However, straight-up or rude rejections make your blood boil. Remember that your crush doesn’t owe you an excuse or a lie to protect your feelings.

Scorpio (October 24th- November 21st)

You don’t get rejected often. You’re a sly, sneaky, sexy member of the zodiac, and people are drawn to you. It’s more likely that you’re playing games with people’s heads than being rejected by them. If you do get rejected, you might convince yourself you haven’t. Otherwise, you’ll move on to the next one soon enough. No matter how rattled you might be, you’ll look calm and cool on the outside.

Sagittarius (November 22nd- December 21st)

You’re one of those too-chill-to-care type of people. A Sagittarius will either take the rejection in ease and move on, or get excited by the challenge and continue to pursue what they want. If a person rejected you, you’ll find creative ways to seduce them. If a job never responds, you’ll track down the CEO and send an email. Eventually, though, you typically move on to the next one. Just make sure that you don’t come off as a stalker. Not everyone will appreciate getting pursued.

Capricorn (December 22nd- January 19th)

You understand rejection. You are firmly planted in reality, sometimes to a fault. If you feel that someone might be rejecting you, you’re eager to pull away. Sometimes, though, the situation was salvageable. Make sure you’re not abandoning a good thing just because you feel slighted. For example, if your crush is busy when you suggest plans, don’t automatically assume that he or she is lying. If your crush is busy every time you suggest plans, you’ll be smart enough to dip.

Aquarius (January 20th- February 18th)

You like to think that you DGAF about anything. When it comes to rejection, you like to pretend to take it lightly. You usually do, actually, but that’s because you’re not very straightforward. Rather than ask your crush on a date, you’ll just kind of flirt with them. If you feel that there’ rejection imminent, you’re happy to be friends. Remember that it’s okay to put your feelings out there. Your crush might not have known you were interested in being more than friends.

Pisces (February 19th- March 20th)

Yikes. You have created a fantasy world to protect yourself from the harshness of reality. When you get rejected, you go on believing that you weren’t. You might call, text, and talk to the person who rejected you as if nothing happened. You take any sign of that person being cordial as a sign that the rejection never happened. Eventually, reality will catch up you, and you’ll be the epitome of a mess. Sorry!
