Dearest C*********s, The ‘Deadwood’ Movie is Set to Start Production Next Year

TVLine is reporting that the long-in-the-works Deadwood revival movie is looking to start production in Fall 2018. The HBO Western originally ran for three seasons from 2004 to 2006.

I have never watched Deadwood, though I am aware that some critics rank it among the best TV dramas ever. I also know that it had plenty of cast members who went on to appear in other shows and movies that I have enjoyed, like Timothy Olyphant, Kim Dickens, and Al Swearengen himself, Ian McShane. Then of course there is its reputation for prolific profanity, especially with its apparently favorite word, “cocksucker.”

At this summer’s Television Critics Association Press Tour, Casey Bloys, HBO’s top programming exec said, “The one thing that I was concerned about was I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for Deadwood fans and non-fans].” According to him, series creator David Milch has delivered on Bloys’ specifications. So maybe I’ll just go ahead and watch the Deadwood movie. You guys know how I am, I think it’s fine watch to TV in whatever order you feel like.
