Get ready to travel back to the Hundred Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh (and Tigger, too), as its being reported that Disney is in development for a new Winnie the Pooh feature film focused on an adult Christopher Robin.
Pooh’s been around since his first theatrical short film in 1966. Since then there has been four short films, several television series, eight direct-to-DVD movies, and four feature films, the most recent being 2011’s Winnie the Pooh.
The push for live-action Disney films comes after a birrage of recent box office sucess stories, like the current Cinderella adaptations which has already grossed $335 million worldwide. There was also Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland and Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent, both of which saw huge success among audiences.
In addition to the live action Pooh flick, up-and-coming live action Disney features include Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book (arriving April 15, 2016), Beauty and the Beast (March 17, 2017) and, currently without a release date, Burton’s Dumbo, as well as Mulan.
