Richard Remme, 51, who lives in Fort Dodge told police that while he was playing with his dog, Balew, a pit bull-labrador mix, he shot him in the leg by mistake.

When Remme tossed the dog off his couch, he bounced back up and in the process disabled the safety on the gun and inadvertently stepped on the trigger. The gun fired, and injured Remme’s legs.

He was taken to a hospital, treated, and released later that day.

Richard told the Messenger newspaper that his dog is a “big wuss” and cried because he felt he had hurt his owner.
