Dylann Roof Gets Death Sentence for Charleston Shooting

Dylann

Back in 2015, Dylann Roof, killed 9 people in a shooting rampage at the Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The Church, which is predominantly black, was a target for Roof as he’s a self-proclaimed white supremacist and clearly, a psychopath. Now, it has just been announced that Roof will be sentenced to death.

His fate was decided by the same jury that convicted Roof on 33 counts after just two hours of deliberation last month.

While on trail, Roof represented himself, provided no witness or evidence, blocked former and stand-by defense lawyers’ attempts to call his mental health into question, and expressed no remorse. If you look at this objectively, it’s like Roof wanted the jury to give him the death penalty.

Roof wrote in a jailhouse journal:

“I do not regret what I did. I am not sorry.”

Roof will be the 63rd person ever placed on federal death row and he will likely be there for years before he is put to death.
