There is an Equation to Determine the Perfect Amount of Time an Oreo Should be Dunked in Milk

STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING.

THIS IS BIG NEWS.

No, Beyoncé isn’t having another kid. No, this isn’t a Game of Thrones leak. This is about a national treasure and paramount point of childhood.

We are talking about Oreos, more specifically, we are talking about dunking Oreos. To be exact, we are talking about the perfect amount of time to dunk an Oreo in milk.

Yeah, no more of those 10-second dunks that look equal parts sadness and makeshift Oreo milk shake. You know who you are.

As it turns out, scientists and mathematicians at the University of Bristol developed a formula for dunking cookies in milk in the 90s. They never applied this formula to an Oreo.

Until today.

Researchers tested and tested with Oreo cookies finding out “Oreos absorbed 50 percent of their potential liquid weight in just one second. After two seconds, they absorbed 80 percent. The number flatlined briefly for a second. After the fourth second, the cookie maxed out.”

So the moment you’ve all been waiting for. You’ve made it this far. How long should you dunk?

The answer.

3 seconds.

Knowledge is power, ladies, and gentlemen.
