How is Alex Azar?
As far as you’ve heard, he’s Trump’s new secretary of Health and Human Services. But, what’s the man all about?
On Monday, POTUS announced that his nominee for secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is Alex Azar. Azar is a former pharmaceutical executive and as Trump promised, will be “a star for better healthcare and lower drug prices.”
Here are some details about the man:
Azar is a conservative (shocker) and graduate of Yale Law School. According to World Congress, Azar acted as Deputy Secretary of the HHS for George W. Bush from 2005 to 2007. He was basically in charge of Medicaid, Medicare, public health, and the regulation of food and drugs.
Azar then joined the pharmaceutical industry as head of a company called Eli Lilly. While Azar was in charge, Eli Lilly was extensively accused of raising drug prices. In March 2017, a class action lawsuit was filed against the company for raising insulin prices.
If you’re thinking this makes no sense considering Trump waged a war against drug companies to lower prices, you’d be right.

The next HHS Secretary must focus on strengthening health care for everyone, rather than carrying out President Trump’s extreme, politically driven, & harmful agenda.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see what goes down.
