False Alarm: Danielle Bregoli’s Social Media Wasn’t Hacked, It Was Just PR For An Awful New Music Video

Everyone was alarmed on Tuesday, and even a little bit excited, when 13-year-old Danielle Bregoli’s Instagram account appeared to have been hacked by perhaps, Russian hackers, on the same day that Wikileaks released a mountain of alleged C.I.A. hacking documents.

The bizarre videos posted by a group calling themselves “FACE Security Group” boasted that “leaks would begin on Wednesday” and shamed viewers for hailing Bregoli as a “modern celebrity”. Among the video series was one that showed an image of a digital clock counting down from an eighteen-hour mark.

Well, on Wednesday, we got to see what all the fuss was about, and it’s disappointing, to say the least (what else is new). At around 12 noon on Wednesday, another video in the same style as the previous three, was posted with the subtitle “Hacked by @Glassface” and spoke the words:

History is now being controlled by GlassFace.

Pay close attention to what happens next.

Bregoli’s account next linked viewers to a full video for rapper Mook Boy’s latest song “Juvy”, which they are referring to as a “top secret art experiment”.
