George R.R. Martin Promises ‘Winds of Winter’ for 2017, and Yes, He Knows He’s Said That Before
At this point you’re probably thinking George R.R. Martin is full of shit anytime he talks about his books because, well, he always postpones. The books are part of Martin’s series Song of Ice and Fire, the novels Game of Thrones is based on. However, the sixth book in the series, Winds of Winter has been taking FOREVER. So long in fact that Game of Thrones had to skip ahead without the books.
Now, Martin has answered a fan comment on his blog that might give us some hope.
Ice and Fire fan J Snow told Martin that we’ve all been waiting forever and asked for the tiniest indicator of when Winds might finally hit bookstores. J Snow asked for something “Even if its as simple as, ‘not done yet, but ive made progress (or not)’, or ‘it’ll be out this year (or not)’. Anything (or not).”
You really think statements like that would make a difference? Ah, you sweet summer child. I have years of experience with this that tells me otherwise.
But okay, I will try it your way.
Not done yet, but I’ve made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now.
I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).
Yup, he just basically said that he has no fucking idea.
