George R.R. Martin Shares His Thoughts on Death and Basically, ‘Game of Thrones’ Fans are Screwed

George R.R. Martin

Game of Thrones is known how killed off main characters with zero regard to our feelings. It’s just not fair. Except for that one time they brought Jon Snow back from the dead, that was cool.

George R. R. Martin, the man who basically created Game of Thrones, sat down for an interview with Galaxy’s Edge and he said:

“I think a writer, even a fantasy writer, has an obligation to tell the truth and the truth is, as we say in Game of Thrones, all men must die. Particularly if you’re writing about war, which is certainly a central subject in Game of Thrones.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but he basically just said everyone is going to die. Right?

Martin continued,

“You don’t get to live forever just because you are a cute kid or the hero’s best friend or the hero. Sometimes the hero dies, at least in my books.”

Yeah, thanks we know that.

Martin’s lastly said:

“I love all my characters so it’s always hard to kill them but I know it has to be done. I tend to think I don’t kill them. The other characters kill ’em. I shift off all blame from myself.”

So who do you think is next?
