A recent New York Times report revealed that Harvey Weinstein has been sexually harassing women for decades. The articles claimed that Weinstein sexually harassed female assistants, executives and actresses for years and settled complaints with at least eight women.
Weinstein founded Miramax, then, with his brother Robert, co-founded The Weinstein Co. Now, he’s out of his own company.
According to TheWrap, the studio issued the following statement:
In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company – Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar – have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately.
After the report came out, Weinstein issued an apology in the form of a misquoted Jay-Z lyric. Then he said he wants to fight the NRA (?), then he said he’s going to sue the New York Times.
Totally normal for Hollywood, I guess…
