Ava DuVernay‘s big screen adaptation of the beloved YA sci-fi classic A Wrinkle in Time is set to tesseract its way into your local multiplex next spring. If you can’t wait that long, Entertainment Weekly just published some exclusive photos that offer a sneak peek at author Madeline L’Engle’s world come to life.
The film stars newcomer Storm Reid as Meg Murry, a normal 14-year-old girl who is whisked away on an adventure across time and space alongside her younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and neighbor Calvin (Levi Miller) to save her missing astrophysicist parents (Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Chris Pine). Guiding Meg on her journey are three ageless, inter-dimensional travelers, Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey).
If these photos are any indication, DuVernay has made a film that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, full of lush and dazzling imagery and ideals that remain true to the progressivism of sci-fi. Kids and adults alike are sure to be marveled by A Wrinkle in Time when it zaps into theaters on March 9, 2018.
