Jennifer Lawrence graces the cover of the September issue of Vogue, which celebrates the legendary publication’s 125th anniversary. In the cover story, J. Law opens up for the first time about her relationship with director Darren Aronofsky, who’s latest film, the psychological horror fantasy Mother!, she stars in, alongside Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, and Michelle Pfeiffer. According to her, she and Aronofsky began dating after production on Mother! wrapped last year.
“We had energy,” she told Vogue. “I had energy for him. I don’t know how he felt about me.” She also said that watching Mother! reminded her “how brilliant he is” and that he’s an “amazing father” to his child with ex Rachel Weisz. “I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused,” she continued. “And I’m never confused with him.”
Of course, it wouldn’t be an article about Jennifer Lawrence without countless anecdotes about how relatable and down to earth she is, and thus we get tidbits about bourbon, her sense of humor, and most intriguingly, an on-set “Kardashian tent”…
“It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop — and gumballs,” she said. “My happy place.” Darren, who must maintain the appearance of a Very Serious Director at all times, pointedly noted that he had no part in the creation of said tent, and J.Law added that he does not approve of her obsession. “He just finds it so vastly disappointing,”
Mother! makes its way into theaters on September 15. Check out the very creepy trailer below, and be sure to pick up the September issue of Vogue.
