Lena Dunham Says She Warned the Hillary Clinton Campaign About Harvey Weinstein

And there’s the twist if you’ve ever heard of one.

I don’t need to tell you that Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood exec who is accused of sexual harassment and rape by over 100 women, is disgusting. Well, as it turns out, Lena Dunham tried to speak up about it before the news broke.

According to Dunham herself, she told the Hillary Clinton campaign about Harvey Weinstein during the 2016 election season. The news comes from the latest NYT piece on Weinstein dubbed “Weinstein’s Complicity Machine.” The article focuses on the people who tried to keep Weinstein behavior a secret.

According to the Times, Dunham and magazine editor Tina Brown warned Clinton’s campaign about Weinstein. However, nothing was ever done about it.

Dunham spoke up because of Weinstein’s involvement in Clinton’s campaign events.

Dunham decided to tell Kristina Schake, deputy communications director for the Clinton campaign, about Weinstein.

Dunham allegedly said:

“I just want you to let you know that Harvey’s a rapist and this is going to come out at some point,” Ms. Dunham said she told Kristina Schake, the campaign’s deputy communications director. She recalled adding, “I think it’s a really bad idea for him to host fund-raisers and be involved because it’s an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.”

Dunham says she doesn’t think Hillary Clinton ever heard her claims.
