Looks Like Trump’s Supposed Laptop Ban on European Flights isn’t Happening

Last week, it was reported that the US Department of Homeland Security was considering banning laptops  and other large electronics in all airplane cabins on flights from Europe to the US.

According to the Associated Press, the ban is now “off the table.” Officials from the United States and the EU reportedly “decided against” the ban following a meeting on Wednesday. But, officials are set to meet again next week, and Wednesday’s encounter ended on a “promise of more talks and better intelligence sharing.”

The order would have been an expansion of the United States’ recent ban of electronic devices larger than a smartphone on flights coming to the U.S. from 8 countries, suspiciously the same countries that were on Trump’s “Muslim Ban.”
