Louis Vuitton Names Virgil Abloh Artistic Director in Historic Move

Vigil Abloh is about to became a household name. If you haven’t heard his name before, you’ve definitely heard of his clothing.

Abloh is the founder of your favorite new brand, Off-White, he’s Kanye West’s creative director, and now, he’s the artistic director for one of the biggest companies in the world, Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton announced over Monday that Virgil Abloh will be the new artistic director of menswear.

Abloh told The New York Times,

“I think of it as kind of the ultimate collaboration.”

Michael Burke, chief executive of Louis Vuitton said,

“Virgil is incredibly good at creating bridges between the classic and the zeitgeist of the moment.”

Virgil Abloh will be the first African-American director of the brand. He will also be responsible for the direction of menswear when it comes to Louis Vuitton (and probably the rest of the world).

Abloh said,

“This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams.”

Abloh told The New York Times he’s compiling an eight-page “brand manual” to “define new codes” at LV.

He’s about to turn the fashion world on its head. Can’t wait.
