Meryl Streep Calls Out Harvey Weinstein For Being “Disgraceful” and Abusing His Power

During an interview with HuffPost, Meryl Streep released a statement on the sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The former film executive, was just fired from his own company, and Meryl has a lot the say about the man. She said his actions were “disgraceful” and an “abuse of power.”

Streep wanted to clarify that not everyone knew about his actions in the world of Hollywood. She said “Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally. I didn’t know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts. And If everybody knew, I don’t believe that all the investigative reporters in the entertainment and the hard news media would have neglected for decades to write about it.”

She also gave a mention to the women who used their voices to speak up against this man by saying “The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.”
