Even though the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors make for a great Finals pairing, we’ve seen them there three years in a row and it would be nice to have something different. So, this is my top five dream NBA Finals list.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
My favorite team (the Nets) battling my favorite player (Russell Westbrook). Please let this happen, because it would be amazing. Whether the Nets are good or bad, they get no love because the other New York team (Knicks) have a stranglehold on everything basketball in the City.
I would bet that the Nets will get to the Finals before the Knicks because Brooklyn now has the right people from top to bottom in place. Also, a solid group of young players. All the Knicks have is Kristaps Porzingis.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, T.J. McConnell, Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns are some of the best young talent in the NBA today, so it would be cool to see all of them competing for a NBA championship. They’ve all shown that they can be great players, but seeing them on the big stage would be something else entirely.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Los Angeles Lakers
The Greek Freak (Giannis Antetokoummpo) head-to-head with the 2017 second overall pick point guard Lonzo Ball. Antetokoummpo has shown great improvement year after year and is turning into an NBA superstar. In his fourth season, the Bucks playmaker is averaging 28.7 points (career-high), 10.1 rebounds (career-high), and 4.7 assists in 37.7 minutes (career-high) on 55.2 percent shooting (27.4% from three and 78.0% from the foul-line).
Ball has shown flashes of being a very good NBA player but overall he is struggling in his rookie season for the Lakers. He is scoring 10.1 points with 7.0 assists and 6.9 rebounds (35.3 shooting percentage, 30.5% from three, 48.0% from the foul line).
Like the 76ers and Timberwolves, both teams have young players with great potential.
Washington Wizards vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Two of the best backcourts in NBA, the Wizards John Wall and Bradley Beal and Blaze’s Damian Lillard and C.J McCollum would make for a highly entertaining Finals.
Memphis Grizzles vs Toronto Raptors
Both teams have a great fanbase, and each of them have reached their conference finals in the past but haven’t be able to make it to the big one. It would be awesome to see this matchup because Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, and Mike Conley are some of the best guards in the NBA, and watching them go up against each other would be a lot of fun.
