Upcoming major motion picture The Glass Castle, based on Jeannette Walls’ 2005 memoir, tracks the story of a girl who grew up to be a successful woman despite, or perhaps because of, her dysfunctional family life.
In the film, Walls is played by Oscar winner Brie Larson, and her parents are played by Oscar nominees Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts. I am getting vibes similar to last year’s Captain Fantastic (an underseen gem), thanks to the offbeat family and all the redheaded children.
But The Glass Castle distinguishes itself from Captain Fantastic – and indeed any movie I’ve ever seen – by aging Naomi Watts up with some unforgettably frizzy gray hair. Color me confuzzled.
