Following the small-town saga of Making a Murderer, Netflix is expanding its true crime oeuvre into the realm of international intrigue by teaming up with John Wells Production (August: Osage County, Love & Mercy) for a feature film about the Panama Papers. The PP story broke this year when German journalists Frederik and Bastian Obermeyer leaked millions of documents that implicated dozens of global politicians in the use of offshore bank accounts and tax havens.
There is another, previously announced Panama Papers movie, with Steven Soderbergh set to produce and possibly direct. Who wants to bet which one will end up the Capote and which one the Infamous in this scenario?
No word yet if this movie is part of Adam Sandler’s four-picture Netflix deal.
