Fans of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale for its eerie, disturbing nature, will enjoy the latest costume designs for Season 2. The show’s costume designer, Ane Crabtree, attended Recode’s Code Media conference, where she showcased the designs and discussed her inspiration. It’s…creepy.
The season 2 costumes are in keeping with the iconic red theme of the previous season, but have added some creepy elements. One outfit is black with a striking red mask that obscures the face, and it’s some serious nightmare fuel in its own right. The other is a blood-red gown with a white hat, which makes me slightly less nervous.

Still, appropriately freaky. Crabtree describes her inspiration as only someone who came up with these looks could: “The idea was to find the perfect color that looked like life blood, or that could fit on any skin tone,” the inclusive queen said.
