Tully‘s trailer is ambiguous at first. We see a montage of typical scenes of an overworked mother (Charlize Theron): pumping breast milk, listening to incessant sounds of a baby crying, and hunching over in a pink blanket fort. “This is a story about motherhood in 2018,” emblazons the screen, just after mom Marlo drops a phone on her own baby while scrolling.
The story comes complete with an ungrateful husband (Ron Livingston), who complains “Frozen pizza, awesome,” after Marlo throws it down in exhaustion.
It’s familiar, if a little bleak, until a beautiful face (Mackenzie Davis) appears at the door. “I’m Tully,” she says. “I’m here to take care of you.”
The trailer doesn’t tell us much, but that’s what makes it intriguing. Seems that night nurse Tully will give Marlo a new lease on life. Who wants to bet that they might even form a bond in the process?
Tully hits theaters April 20th, 2018.
