Nicole Kidman revealed she was once engaged to rock star Lenny Kravitz before marrying her current husband of 10 years, country music star Keith Urban.
According to Entertainment Tonight, in a new interview with NET-A-PORTER.com’s digital magazine, The EDIT, Kidman dropped the news of her former engagement. Kidman was talking about her 28-year-old co-star, and Lenny Kravitz’s daughter, Zoe Kravitz. “Well, I knew Zoe because I was engaged to her father,” Kidman says. “It’s all in the family!”
She had revealed, shortly after her marriage to Urban, that she was briefly engaged to someone before him, but would not say who the lucky man was. “I got engaged to somebody … but it just wasn’t right,” she said. “I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.” In the interview, she goes on to say that there are no hard feelings between her and Kravitz. “I love Lenny; he’s a great guy,” she adds.
The 49-year-old actress stars in the new HBO series Big Little Lies. She talks about what a traumatic experience it has been working on the show. “I was quite traumatized after [filming] because we would shoot [the violent scenes] repeatedly,” the Oscar-winning actress says. “I was emotionally and physically traumatized. I’d come back and I’d need Keith to hold me, just to feel soothed. I think it worked on my psyche in a way that I didn’t quite realize.”
The show is based on Liane Moriarty’s best-selling 2014 novel, and it centers on a group of women, all in different stages of motherhood in Monterey, California, whose lives devolve from perfect suburbia to deceit and even murder.
Big Little Lies premieres on February 19th on HBO.
