Priyanka Chopra is known for speaking out against sexism. She plays bad- ass roles and is an avid believer feminism. She believes in being able to play roles that are traditionally more ‘masculine’ (She wants to play a Female James Bond).
Naturally, when her close friend and activist Meghan Markle had a Vanity Fair cover story, they chose to cover boyfriend Prince Harry, more than Markle herself. Chopra had her own opinion on this: “I don’t know if I will get into trouble for this, but I have an opinion. I mean, she’s on the cover of Vanity Fair. It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I’m just saying. I mean, she’s an actor, she’s an activist, she’s a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more. She then continues to say: “It’s just a little sexist. Look, I’m a feminist and I love boys, okay…The only thing I’m saying is that there needs to be a certain sense of equality where a woman is not just a plus one, you know. It’s nice to be your own identity too.”
The cover story details Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry. Although she comments that she doesn’t “define herself by her relationship” (As it should be, females get shit done). Chopra has dealt with comments from Wendy Williams, about Markel as well. Chopra quickly put Williams in her place when she referred to Markle as “Prince Harry’s girlfriend.”
Being an actress, activist, and philanthropist, Markle has more to offer than just the pretty face of Prince Harry’s girlfriend.
