There’s a new trailer out for Blade Runner 2049, and we get a glimpse of more of the society that exists in this grim neon future through the eyes of Ryan Gosling’s character, Officer K. He’s been sent to track down the elusive blade runner Deckard, but learns a dark secret about the Replicants in the process.
We see more of the landscape of the future Los Angeles: more breathtaking vistas of a thriving metropolis, but also abandoned solar farms and people living in the junkyards and detritus of this veneer of civilization, as well as more footage of Robin Wright, Jared Leto, and Lennie James from The Walking Dead.
We also get a hint why Deckard, reprised by Harrison Ford, has gone into hiding.
“I covered my tracks, scrambled the records,” he says cryptically. “We were being hunted!”
“By who?” asks K.
We’ll find out when Blade Runner 2049 premieres October 6.
