The Pantone Color Institute has teamed up with Prince’s estate, and announced a standardized custom color of purple to honor the late musician. Prince, as you might know, is often referred to as “The Purple One,” so this only seems right. who was commonly referred to as “The Purple One” by his fans.
Troy Carter, Entertainment Advisor to Prince’s estate in a press release,
“The color purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever.”
Pantone says that the official shade will be named after his unpronounceable “Love Symbol #2,” and was inspired by his custom-made Yamaha purple piano that was supposed to go on tour with him before he passed away.
