Coming off a stellar opening weekend in both box office and reviews, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has revealed that she definitely wants to be onboard a potential sequel.
“I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It’s a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love,” Jenkins says. “The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right.”
The first film, which opened this past weekend, takes place primarily on the fictional island of Themyscira, as well as London during World War I. The film opened to over $100 million, and has received very positive reviews.
There’s no official plans set in stone for a Wonder Woman sequel yet, but both Jenkins and titular star Gal Gadot are contractually obligated to work on a sequel if it gets announced. In the meantime, Wonder Woman is now in theaters, and you can read about how the film got banned in Lebanon right here.
