Pence Says U.S. is Open to Talking North Korea as he Leaves the Winter Olympics

While VP Mike Pence was at the Winter Olympics, he eluded to the fact that the United States is open to having a conversation with North Korea. Quite the different tone considering a few months ago Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump were tweeting about bombing each other.

The statement Pence made was in reference to a possible summit South Korea might host in order to bring them together with North Korea. The longtime enemies have been inching closer towards some sort of resolution, even walking under the same flag together during the Winter Olympics.

Pence said in a newspaper interview the United States and South Korea had agreed on terms for further diplomatic engagement with North Korea, first with Seoul and then possibly leading to direct talks with Washington.

Pence said,

“The point is, no pressure comes off until they are actually doing something that the alliance believes represents a meaningful step toward denuclearisation. So the maximum pressure campaign is going to continue and intensify. But if you want to talk, we’ll talk.”

Here’s hope that they actually talk and nobody bombs each other.
