Philadelphia Death Row Rapper Cool C Scheduled To Be Executed By Lethal Injection

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett announced on Friday, he signed Christopher Roney aka Cool C’s death warrant and Roney is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Jan. 8 at the State Correctional Institution-Greene.

Roney, 44, was known for living up to his “Glamorous Life” single. The rapper was always seen wearing gold chains, aviator sunglasses and carrying hundred dollar bills.

In 1996 Roney was convicted of first-degree murder after shooting Philadelphia Police Officer Lauretha Vaird. Vaird, 43, was a nine-year veteran who responded to the heist at PNC Bank on Rising Sun Ave.

Roney, along Ernest Canty and Warren McGlone tried to rob the bank when it opened at 8:20 a.m. on Jan. 2, 1996. Vaird was shot in the abdomen during her efforts to stop the robbery.

Canty and McGlone who also collaborated with Roney in his last release, “Countin’ Endless Bank” are both currently serving life in prison.
