‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Learns That Bad Reviews Make for Sarcastic Fake Trailer

When the reviews for feature films start pouring in, new trailers are cut to include the most effusive shouts of praise from the critics. But when there are no good reviews to be had, jokers who had nothing to do with making or promoting the film rush in with their shenanigans.

Ergo, the folks at ScreenCrush sicced their fake trailer talons on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which currently holds a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

For some reason, this trailer does not include any quotes from our review, even though Marissa Sblendorio was quite clear that PotC: DMTNT “is trying too hard to recapture the magic of the franchise’s first film.”
