Set mutant power to “phasing.” X-Man (or X-Woman, as it were) Kitty Pryde might just be getting her very own feature film.
Kitty P. has previously appeared on screen in the X-Men film series, as played by Ellen Page in 2006’s not-that-good The Last Stand and 2014’s very good Days of Future Past. There is no word either way regarding whether or not Page will be returning, but I hope she does. She is Ellen Page, after all.
Tim Miller (helmer of the first Deadpool movie) is attached to direct, while big-time comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis (a longtime scribe at Marvel) has been tapped to write the script. I’m a little iffy on their involvement, as I did not particularly care for Deadpool and Bendis has written a few comics that made my head spin, but we’ll see.
The film is currently codenamed 143, a reference to the 1981 issue Uncanny X-Men #143, which featured one of Kitty’s earliest solo adventures. That comes from the Chris Claremont/John Byrne X-Men era, which has provided previous fruitful inspiration for previous X-flicks.
