Rex Tillerson was unfortunately fired today from Secretary of State.
That’s a tough loss for a politician, but that’s not the worst part. Apparently, he found out of his being let go via a Donald Trump tweet.
At 8:44 Tuesday morning, Trump tweeted that Director of the CIA Mike Pompeo will step up as the new Secretary of State. That must not be easy for Rex.
Chief of Staff John Kelly allegedly informed Rex of a tweet that may concern him, but gave no further information than that.
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

“Two senior department officials said Tillerson received a call from John Kelly, Trump’s chief of staff, on Friday, but was only told that there might be a presidential tweet that would concern him. Kelly didn’t tell Tillerson what the tweet might say or when it might actually publish, according to the official, who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter and demanded anonymity.”
Many have speculated that Tillerson knew what was coming, which could have been the reason behind his willingness to speak about what happened to the Russian diplomat who was allegedly poisoned last week.
