Selena Gomez has a new acting role, and her fans are pissed off about it. Earlier this week, it was announced that the former Disney princess-turned triple threat would be starring in the as-yet-untitled new film from Woody Allen, set to be released next year, via Amazon. Elle Fanning and Timothée Chalamet have also signed on as co-stars.
Fans are angry that, after years of advocating for mental illness and survivors of sexual abuse, Gomez would choose to work with the controversial writer/director, considering his personal history. Back in the early 90s, Allen infamously carried on an affair with Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted teenage daughter of his then-partner, Mia Farrow (Allen and Previn married when she was of legal age, and remain married to this day). Following that bombshell, Allen was also accused of sexually abusing his and Farrow’s daughter, Dylan, who was 7 at the time. Though authorities did not find enough evidence to charge Allen with a crime, and a number of Farrow’s other children believe the whole thing was a fabricated revenge ploy, Dylan still claims to this day that the abuse did take place.
Given all of this, Gomez’s fans took to Twitter to call her out…
beyond disappointed that Selena Gomez would put such an emphasis on how horrible rape is in 13RW, then work with a rapist director.

How is Selena Gomez going to make a TV show about abuse, rape, sexual assault etc and then work with a well known rapist?
