Seth Meyers is never afraid to dive head first into politics, and he never shies away from saying exactly what he feel about President Trump. Nothing changed on Monday, Meyers went all in on Trump’s words, or lack their of, regarding the white supremacist neo-nazi violent riots in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Meyers said as he opened his show not holding back on Trump’s lack of leadership,
“On Saturday, you didn’t hear Heather Heyer’s name, the terrorists name, or even the word terrorist from our president.”
He discussed what Trump chose not to say before showing footage of Trump declaring that there was bigotry and violence on “many sides.” The one thing he did say, was not what he should have. And Meyers agrees.
“If that choice of words made you feel sick to your stomach, the good news is that you’re a normal and decent person. The jury’s still out on the president as he initially refused to condemn the white supremacist movement in this country.”
Trump is supposed to be our leader, and Meyers does not see Trump as leading in the right way. Even if Trump does not want it, these Neo-Nazi white supremacists see Trump as their leader, doing the work of the man they chose to lead their country.
Meyers went on to recount all of Trump’s racist moments before he took the White House and condemned the president for not acting presidential. He accused Obama of not being born in America, called Mexicans rapists and countless racists and ignorant comments.
“If he does not preside over our society, he is not a president. You can stand for a nation or you can stand for a hateful movement, you cannot do both.”
We all rally behind Seth for saying what he means, and calling the President out on his shit. You cannot turn a blind eye to the biggest gathering of neo-nazis and white supremacists we ever seen. Trump seems to be supporting these actions by refusing to call these people for what they are: racists, nazis, white supremacists, terrorists, just to name a few.
