Shameful: ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants Have No Idea Who Kendrick Lamar Is

“Look inside of my soul and you could find gold and maybe get rich/Look inside of your soul and you can find out it never exist.” Ya know? Maybe not.

If you didn’t recognize that Kendrick Lamar lyric you aren’t alone in the universe (although, get to listening right now! The man is amazing).

On last night’s Jeopardy!, all three contestants royally screwed up in an R&B/Hip-Hop category. One of the clues was, “Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA’, He had ‘LOYALTY.’ He was ‘HUMBLE.’ and in ‘LOVE.’—DAMN.” What more do you need, man?!

The correct response was of course “Kendrick Lamar”, but, I don’t know, maybe these contestants only listen to… I have no idea actually.

Alas, the contestants all flailed like fish on dry land for ten seconds, making a combination of scrunched up facial expressions but no words, until the time was up and Alex Trebek (who I’m sure is a huge Lamar fan) woefully clued them in to his horrifying blunder.

“If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?”

Sorry, that isn’t some weird philosophical question for you. It’s actually just another Kendrick lyric. Couldn’t help myself.
