Sold! Houston Rockets Bought by Local Entrepreneur for $2.2 Billion

NBA

Longtime owner of the Houston Rockets, Les Alexander, has sold the NBA franchise to Tilman Fertitta for a record sum of $2.2 billion. Alexander turned a hell of a profit on the team, having bought it for $85 million back in 1993.

Lifelong Houstonian and owner of the Landry’s restaurant franchise and Golden Nugget Casinos and Hotels, Fertitta could not be more excited to now own one of the NBA’s premiere franchises.

Fertitta is also being compared to other billionaire entrepreneurs who have purchased NBA franchises in more recent years.

Being a native of Houston, Rockets fans seem to be very pleased that one of their own has purchased the team.

With perennial MVP candidate James Harden and the newly acquired future Hall of Famer Chris Paul on his squad, it’ll be interesting to see in which direction Fertitta decides to take his team. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on once the NBA season rolls around in the fall.
